Fighting climate change is not about saving polar bears. It’s about me and us, it’s about love and trust for nature. But, Why we are throwing anything at anywhere instead of caring and loving the environment? Why we are combating against climate change everytime in only virtual sessions, instead of combating against our's thought process, attitude and habitual actions? I think, We might have lost conscience. So, Firstly Let's workout on it and go on then.
Climate change solution is not merely a physical event, it is experienced, interpreted, and socially constructed through discursive activities in social and mind settings .People make sense of climate change via narratives, and their perceptions only. But Dear Youths, We have to be the actor who don't only engage in linguistic interpretation but also discuss solutions using verbal acts and participating in actions too. Using narratives, people just assign blame and stigmatize those who refuse to acknowledge the problem or fail to seek solutions. But, Think as yourself Did you ever try to reduce the minor and minor problems like using plastic bag and inorganic fertilizers, throwing household sewage in land or river, cutting plants, burning biomass, cooking excess food, etc. In fact, these type of nonsense minor individual activities led to 30% of global warming and carbon footprint worldwide. Did you ever plant the trees and water them regularly. Already Known Ans.- No. Then, Stop blaming others and Go on action from your side at least how much you can. So, It's high time for all youths to be awared themselves and then to people.
Burning Issue, Climate change is one of the most critical global challenges of our times. Recent events have emphatically demonstrated our growing vulnerability to climate change. Climate change impacts range from affecting agriculture, further endangering food security, to sea-level rise and the accelerated erosion of coastal zones increasing the intensity of natural disasters, species extinction, and spread of vector-borne diseases. This issue is of immense importance for every global citizen. Hence it requires an initiative against globally from Youth who are adaptable and can quickly make low-carbon lifestyles and career choices a part of their daily private lives and work place. Youth should therefore be given a chance to take an active part in the decision-making of local, national and global levels by facilitating of youth participation from developing countries and virtual participation of youth around the world who cannot attend UNFCCC conference. They can actively support initiatives that will lead to the passage of far-reaching legislation which can brought moral, intergenerational, equity-based values and constructive technical as well as policy inputs to the negotiations.Diverse initiatives incorporating formal and non-formal education on climate change, viable lifestyles, sustainable production and consumption patterns, as well as behavioural change campaigning on issues ranging from food waste to climate change can be more effective at this pandemic time via advisory Council and online networking.
Governments can sign policies to reduce GHGs, but reduction targets cannot be reached unless action is taken individually. So, Consume only what you need and avoid any form of waste. Also, use your consumer power to favor environment-friendly products. If people do not purchase a product, manufacturers will stop producing it which ultimately minimize the hazards.
Every single person should do their bit to contribute to the global fight against climate change. You can start Whether at your house, school, or office, use alternative cooking methods (solar cookers) and energy efficient appliances that save on overhead costs in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, transportation etc.and unplug all electronics when not in use. Promote community waste collection scheme .Use figures, facts, and a hands-on approach to educate your family, friends, and communities about the climate crisis. Maybe even write for the local newspaper. Protect the forest through collecting scrap paper by using it for drawing and notes.Buy and use recycled paper for school and other activities. Use e-mail instead of paper letter. This minor things you might like such a dump initiatives but it is the biggest step towards stopping climate change.
Producers use fertilizers in more doses than recommended amount to achieve more production per unit area for high commercial outcome. But, This type of ill practice decreased food quality, developed resistance in weeds, insects and pests, micronutrient deficiency in soil, toxicity to different beneficial living organism, accumulation of heavy metals in plant tissues that compromises fruit nutrition value and edible quality, reduces the protein content and dry matters, decreases Vitamin C, carotene content and antioxidant compounds in vegetables , deteriorate soil fertility, water eutrophication, acid rain and so on.
This, in turn, impact water, air and soil pollution led to global warming and threatens future food security. We should aware people against the use of excess chemical fertilizer through public campaign, webinar, seminar, programs etc to eradicate it. But,Just only awaring verbally and virtually can't make desired progress. It doesn't matter how's people were awared, if there's lack organic fertilizer, farmers again compelled to use chemical fertilizer concomitantly. Thus,Youth ,We are the champ who can lead, organise and explore the energetic, creative, innovative and enthusiastic people in the entrepreneurship of vermicompost manufacturing company and aimed to build #The_Organic_Nepal where no farmers would be returned with empty handed lacking organic fertilizer.
Try to make the organic compost cheaper than chemical fertilizers and qualitative too which might definitely rise the hype and hope for organic fertilizers.
Many companies don't want to invest in nfrastructure to minimize waste and emissions; they see environmental protection measures as unnecessaryexpenses. Aborting that type of misconceptions and adopting the ideology of green jobs, green restaurant ,solar city and more ,we can introduce the better Earth for us and future generations.
Enhance plants like Jatropha in the roadside, industrial area, urban area etc that have both environmental and commercial significances ie. Jatropha alleviate greenhouse gas emissions. A mature Jatropha plant is a carbon sink, as two plants absorb one metric ton of CO2 annually.Jatropha seeds are 30% oil, and from 1 hect.plants 700 gallons of biofuel can also be produced that reduces fossil fuel.
Carbon emissions from building sector during production of building materials (cement, steel, iron etc), transport of building materials, demolition of buildings, direct energy use of buildings, and building waste contributed to 45% of global carbon footprint. Futher increasing urbanisation definitely increase the more green house gases. So,With the implementation of low-carbon strategies in building sector, such as energy-saving building designs with proper architectural planning and energy-saving retrofit for existing buildings, construct same large buildings for retails, hotels, offices etct that would be a significant influence on carbon emission reduction. Recently concerning about building sector emissions, Elon musk built the largest giga factory in China for Tesla motors with a transportable and fittable building walls that reduces 50% emissions of that construction and money too. In our Lumbini province, the former temporary state capital was Butwal and there were already built a lot of physical infrastructures. Recently,The permanent state capital became Dang. For this, we would have to again built billions rupees infrastructure which contribute double carbon emissions and economic deficit. If we had applied our proper far-sighted mind settings, we can save energy and economic by practising musk plan alike.
I see a great innovative startup in Nepal about Cold storage. We have just 35 cold storage in Nepal which couldn't meet even 10% of production storage. After the post harvest, 25% fruits,20% vegetables are decayed and emiting methane gases, causing high economic loss and environment hazards. It's just the example about agriculture innovative for climatic resilience. There are even hundreds of ideas which we have to explore and implement.
Lester Vaughan School in Barbados with 1,100 students implemented a project to raise awareness about the use of biodiesel as an environmentally friendly alternative fuel for diesel vehicles. The members of the school’s Environmental Club collected used vegetable oil from their homes and communities and handed it over to the Sole Proprietorship, who then produced biodiesel and glycerine from the oil and paid the Club for each litre of biodiesel and glycerine sold. The income generated through the sale of biodiesel was utilize to conduct other environmental activities. The students learned about climate change, recycling, renewable energy and also participated in business training workshops. To demonstrate the use of biodiesel in generators and for income-generating activities, the private sector donated a diesel generator, which are managed by the school’s Environmental Club. The generator ran on the biodiesel resulting in the reduction of approximately 6,000 tons of CO2 emissions.
Similarly, In Ethiopia more than 2000 Youths started tree planting in every baren lands with consistent caring till survival which resist salinization and desertification at a high level.
In this way, Youths are collaborating and going together. But Sadly, We are still existing in political student union and social media only to criticize government. So, Youths It's time to step forward for innovations regarding global climatic change.
